Data Accuracy & Corrections

We take accuracy seriously - and we're honest that scoring at this scale means errors will sometimes happen. Here's how we handle reports, discrepancies, and corrections, and how the community helps us keep the database accurate.

Reporting an issue

If you believe a product score is inaccurate, an ingredient has been misidentified, or a product's data doesn't match the current label, you can report it in two ways:

  • In the app — use the Report an issue or Send feedback buttons on any product page to submit a report directly. This is the fastest way to reach us.
  • By email — send the product name, barcode (if available), and a description of the issue to team@trulu.app.

We rely on the community to keep the database accurate. A project of this scope - thousands of products, constantly reformulating - only really works with help from the people using it. The more eyes on the database, the better Trulu gets for everyone.

How we handle corrections

Every report is reviewed. Here's the process:

  1. Triage— we verify the report against the product's current label, retailer listing, and Open Food Facts entry.
  2. Investigation — if the data in our database differs from the current product label, we update the ingredient list and nutritional data.
  3. Rescore — the product is rescored with corrected data. The new score replaces the old one immediately.
  4. Acknowledgement — if you reported via email, we respond to confirm the correction has been made.

For brands

If you're an Australian brand or manufacturer and believe your product data in Trulu is outdated or incorrect, we welcome the correction. Send the current Australian ingredient list and nutritional panel to team@trulu.app and we'll update our records.

We do not alter scores at the request of brands. If a product's formulation has changed, the updated data will be rescored using the same methodology applied to every other product.
